It’s been another super-busy month for the Meguiar’s detailing bay, playing host to a wide variety of vehicles including a VW T5 Transporter, Ford Fiesta ST and Vauxhall Astra VXR to name a few. One particular car that stood out from the rest was Jez Howarth’s championship white FN2 Civic Type-R – one of the most complete modified cars we’ve ever had in the bay.
Under the bonnet lurks a whole catalogue of Skunk 2 upgrades courtesy of Tegiwa imports, with lashings of carbon fibre dress-up used throughout. White silicone hoses match the exterior along with anodized washer bottle and bolts to name a few. For the exterior, even more carbon fibre is used with the bonnet, wings, arch trims, splitter, door handles, filler cap, grille and side skirts all upgraded with the black stuff. Carbon fibre is just as prone to fade and discoloration over time just like paint, so it’s equally as important to ensure all carbon parts are waxed and sealed for maximum protection.
Don’t think it’s all show and no go, either. Jez has equipped the Type-R with Yellow Speed 6-pot brakes up front and 4-pots on the rear, along with Yellow Speed coilovers for an aggressive stance over the limited-edition Tomison wheels. Open the door and you’re treated to even more carbon fibre, this time in place of the seats, boot build and even the floor mats! Lightweight, super-cool and very JDM – what’s not to love?
Jez’s Civic Type-R came into the Meguiar’s detailing bay for paint correction ahead of the Modified Nationals event @ Peterborough Showground last weekend. Truth be told. minimal work was necessary due to the condition in which Jez maintains the Type-R, however as always it was good to address some of those misconceptions associated with detailing as well as demonstrating the correct techniques for an improved finish with less time taken. The end result? A Top 16 award @ Modified Nationals for all his hard work – nice one Jez!
