Here at Meguiar’s we never do things by halves. Whether it’s developing a fresh new drying towel or building the latest show-worthy demo car, we believe in always doing things to the best of your ability and never cutting corners.

Late last year we took delivery of our latest project car – a Nissan Sunny pickup imported from the land of the rising sun. Now unusual project cars are nothing new to Meguiar’s – our fleet currently includes an ex-Police interceptor and a Ford Econoline van after all – but going down the Japanese route was a first for us…

Already being in quite good nick, the sensible choice would’ve been to tidy up the Nissan and fit a selection of period-correct parts to it. But we’ve got the Econoline for that, so why not go a little more mad?

Step forward 09 Racing – a small outfit based in Japan who specialise solely on transforming old-school Nissan pickups into snarling, Hakosuka-inspired monsters! With super-wide overfenders, a ‘duckbill’ splitter and of course Hakosuka-style lights and grille, the 09 Racing conversion simply bolts in place of the OE parts.

Which means you can fit some seriously cool wheels and slam it on the move using some seriously cool suspension… but that’s all we’re giving away for the time being. We cannot wait to see this project develop throughout the rest of the year – stay tuned, it’s going to be one of a kind…
