Ryan Stewart’s Porsche Cayman has a hard life. It’s a fully rose jointed track car with adaptive suspension and sees serious use at events all around the country. That doesn’t mean it can’t be a show car too though, with a full Greg Howell repaint and genuine 997 RS4.0 and Carrera Cup Car parts it’s got all the right ingredients.

Ryan’s not shy of using the car through winter and although still in great condition this use could be seen in the paintwork and wheels. The car sits on lightweight 18 inch Rotiform LSR wheels and is painted in 964RS Maritime blue, Ryan’s used a ‘Porsche RS’ mentality to modify the car and rather than up the power he has concentrated on the suspension and aerodynamics.

It’s hard to ignore the huge carbon wing on the back, taken from a 997 Carrera Cup car. The carbon weave is still visible through the paint, so care had to be taken to correct the finish while preserving the paint thickness here.

Elsewhere on the car the fast cut of the DA Microfibre System added extra depth and clarity to the unique blue finish.

To correct the pitting on the wheels Tom put in the leg work. A mixture of tool use and old fashioned hand polishing brought the wheels back to a mirror finish. Salt, brake dust and track grime have not been kind to the raw alloy dishes but they have been brought back to a show standard in time for Ultimate Dubs.

While Tom toiled away on the wheels Dale made light work of correcting the exterior. Meguiar’s MT320 made light work of the complex curves and surfaces on the Cayman body shell.

Check out Ryan’s unique Cayman on the Players stand at Ultimate Dubs this weekend. It’s a shame for it to be parked up however, the sound of the flat six at full song is really something to behold!
