Tyre rubber, bumper-to-bumper contact and unburnt fuel – the world of motorsport doesn’t lend itself to detailing, but that doesn’t mean it should be exempt! Don’t believe us? Take a look at Russell Dack’s E46 BMW Compact race car…

Russell is a long-standing friend of Meguiar’s, and to show our continued support to his passion for racing we’ve teamed up once again with the Prep N Lay E46 Race Team competing in the Kumho Championship this year.

Originally starting its life as a standard 2.5i Compact, Russell and the Prep N Lay team prepared the car back in winter 2015 with a range of performance & safety upgrades. Due to competing in the CC Class, the BMW’s engine, gear box, differential and drivetrain must remain standard to keep the racing close and affordable. In fact, the whole car can be transformed into a competitve racer for as little as £12,000 including parts and labour!

‘I’ve been racing for two years now and the BMW is the first car I’ve properly raced’ explains Russell. ‘I’ve actually got another race car – a Seirra RS500 – but i just can’t bring myself to race it yet! The BMW on the other hand is very competitive and has won most of the races its competed in or coming a very close second. I’ve always used Meguiar’s products on all of my cars anyway, so the opportunity to race in 2017 with their support is a no brainer.’
